Writing Monologues

So I’ve been writing longhand a bunch over the Easter Break. I’ve been writing longhand because I’m trying to figure out character voices, and my main drill is fast becoming the monologue written in 1st person from one character’s perspective. Basically it involves writing a few pages of the character talking about his or her life and really thinking about how this particular character would convey the information so it can be written in that character’s voice.

I’m pretty happy with the results thus far, but it’ll take more time to find out if this is really effective.
