Reading Needs

I don’t read enough, especially considering my chosen profession. I want to read more, but I have a great deal of trouble with this. I pick up a book. I read the first chapter, and then I put the book down for weeks or months. This is a killer for someone in my position trying to break into publishing.
My shelves are full of books and they surround me. I haven’t read most of these books, but TV is so much easier and any number of other excuses can keep me away from them. I don’t have much else to say, honestly. I need to read more so I can understand better how to write. That’s the bottom line.

  1. Hi Tim! This is very true. I’m a bit of the opposite of you…I use reading as an excuse to procrastinate my writing. : )

    • It’s probably just a case of the grass looking greener on the other side, but it seems to me that in building skills reading is more valuable than writing. I don’t know, though. Both are obviously necessary to get it right.
