Spells of the Curtain Book 6 Update

Spells of the Curtain Book  6, Fire Mage is going to be long, and likely going to become a novel, rather than a novella.

There. Thought I’d get the big shift in news out of the way first. The book just doesn’t want to be contained into 100 pages, and it may be even longer than book one in the end.

I struggled with this fact for a while, but I think it’s for the best. As a result, it will take a little more time to release, but I should definitely have it out this month, alongside another book in a new science fiction series, and a short story or two for my military space opera series, Titan Games.

Happy NaNoWriMo to all fellow writers. This seven-minute blog is dedicated to you, whether you’re new to the craft or old hands at it.

Thanks for reading.

I have some time left, so allow me to be clear about something else.

I have had some serious depressive phases recently, mostly relating to the book and my failure to get really deep into it as a novella. I’m getting better with some help from my friends, but it’s always tough to handle these flare-ups. If you suffer from depression, get help. Your mind is 90% of what you’ve got in most cases.

Thanks for reading, and hopefully I’ll be back soon with good news and new books.

This blog has been a seven-minute sprint. Check the links for my podcast if you want to hear more, and as always check out my books if you want to support me or just read some good speculative fiction.

Notes on the next Spells of the Curtain books

Hello, everyone. I hope you good readers are all doing well.

I have been having trouble keeping up with my release schedule, so Spells of the Curtain: Fire Mage (Book 6 in the series) is going to take a few additional days to release. Expect the release around Halloween instead of the 25th. Thanks for your patience.

Also, going forward please be patient as I think I will need to slow my release schedule for future books by a few days per book.

Life is going alright for me right now, but it’s not without difficulties and my ADHD has been a greater challenge lately than in the past.

Thanks for reading.

Spells of the Curtain Book 5 Released!

I’ve been remiss in announcing the latest release but seeing as I’ve begun work on book 6 in earnest, I suppose it’s a good idea to formally announce the release of book 5, Traveling Mage, on this blog.

Yes, book 5 of the Spells of the Curtain series is live, and it has a LOT of adventure in it, considering its small size.

Edmath and his allies travel to the northern coast of the empire to investigate a strange sign. What they find has the possibility to change everything going forward.

If you haven’t picked up the other books in the series now is as a good a time as ever. Check out the series page here.

I always mean to post more here, but I hope you will indulge the brevity I have here. There is fiction to be written, and I must get back to it.

Thanks for reading!

A Few Days Late

Hi, everyone. I just want to officially say I’m not done with Garden Mage just yet. I promise it will be worth another few days waiting. If you’re reading the series as it comes out, thank you for your patience. This fast release is new to me, and I will get better at it going forward.

Thanks for understanding. I don’t expect the wait will be more than a few days to a week.

Thanks for reading.

(Jeez there are a lot of Thanks in this post. Hope no one notices… Shhhh)

7 Minutes to a Conspiracy

Well, folks, it happened. Yesterday the third book in my Root Conspiracy series released on Amazon.com.

Image Storm is a rereleased of a little novella once called The Bright Image, but it’s here. I really struggled writing this boo, but I’m happy it’s out there, and I really enjoy where it takes the story of Jeth and his friends. The original version of this series really did not get out there very well, so I’m trying to emphasize the genre elements. IE: The post-apocalyptic setting, and the weird future I imagined in them.

If that sounds interesting to you, click the image above and check out the series. I’m really happy with them, and with book 4, which should be out on August 21st. Thanks for your attention.

Writing on book four has been tough to get started. I encountered some serious resistance trying to devise the structure and form the story should take as I proceed in a direction I think people will enjoy. The story is flowing now, but I had to brainstorm a lot of ideas to get things rolling.

All eyes and buys are appreciated. Thank you all so much for any attention and support you have for me. Rock on, folks. Thanks for reading.

And buzzer.

7 Minutes to Book 2!

Hi people! Above you can see the cover for the second book in the Spells of the Curtain series.

Of the first three books in this series, I have to say this one is probably my personal favorite. We go from high to low and all over in between in this story. The work in this part didn’t feel like work at all. That’s the best kind of writing for me when the real world and words disappear and I’m somewhere else, discovering what happened in this other place with its own rules. That doesn’t happen often for me. In the past ten years, maybe 2-3 books felt that way.

I recently started reading a book by James Scott Bell called “The Mental Game of Writing.” In this book, Bell discusses a side of playful creativity at a few points. So far, my favorite delve into this subject refers to play as chaos, a lawless freedom to write whatever the writer wants at that moment. However, one must always restore order for the readers’ sakes later on. I think that’s true. I also think I managed to coordinate play and order well in book two, out next Tuesday!

Also, book one is out today! Click here to get it right now!

Thanks for reading.

7 Minutes of a Relaunch!

Hello everybody! Long time no blog.

Today is a special seven-minute blog, not least of all because it’s been too long.

I am relaunching a series (Starting yesterday), with the books below. The series formerly known as “Clean” is now “The Root Conspiracy” so if you’ve got the 3 books I launched these won’t be new to you. However, I suspect many of you have not read this series, so allow me to invite you to give it a shot from this point on.

These books portray a future where superhuman beings protect humanity, but they’re also the greatest threat.

Our hero, Jeth, gets in over his head when he tries to restore his lost love’s memories in book one, which draws him into a deeper conspiracy, the roots of which go deep. See what I did there?

If you like speculative futures, weird fiction, or just good thrillers with some science fiction trappings, this series is for you.

I’m proud to bring these back out in new clothes and hope I can find a larger audience with a solid representation of these stories in the right categories. Right now they’re all going to be exclusive with Amazon.com so you can read them for free if you have Kindle Unlimited.

Thanks for reading and supporting me. I’m especially happy to thank fellow author Yudhanjaya Wijeratne for his pointing out a major weak point in my approach to showing off this series. But that’s seven minutes. Read on, folks!
